Foreign Markets Make “Life of Pi” Half a Billionaire

Ang Lee’s Golden Globe nominated film „Life of Pi“ is the latest example demonstrating the increasing importance of foreign film markets.

Worldwide box office up to date is 501,4 Million Dollars. But the film generated overseas four times more than the box office in the North American territories: 100,4 mill.

The film had one of the strongest showing in China with a total of 90,8 Million US-Dollars.

Due to the continuing international response Ang Lee’s film has a good chance to become one of the 100 biggest box office successes of all time.
